GE 2011

alright, this is a sensitive topic to touch on but i'd really like to share my two cents worth of thoughts. im rather into the politics and politicians nowadays cus firstly, i work in the PAP organisation so i get to learn and experience some things related to GE. secondly, its my first time getting to vote in GE so i've been watching those politicians videos and finding out more about the news on GE recently so that i dont make the wrong choice and thirdly, im interested in politics.

i, for one, is not a supporter of the opposition party, not because im working in the PAP but cus i really respect LKY for his leadership skills to make singapore to what it is today. without him and his team, can singapore even become one of the top-notch countries? i seriously doubt so. i've read comments on how some people think that the old batch of PAP politicians were really capable but not the new batch of them who's sitting in the parliament now and taking such big, fat payroll every month yet not serving the people well like what they claimed.

and for us, especially youngsters of our generation would probably find it hard to decide who to vote for. maybe i dont really agree to certain policies that the PAP are having now for e.g, FT is really an issue which i dislike about singapore now. so many ah neis and ah tiongs all over the streets?! sometimes these people really get on my nerves for whatever reasons there are and the CPF issue is another thing that i just dont understand? when my time comes, i doubt i can even take a single cent out anymore. so what am i working so hard for now? such a big percent of my pay goes to the CPF evey month and if by the time i retire, i cant get a single cent out then what am i gonna do with no money, how to survive?

maybe singapore really needs a change but not change in the way that opposition becomes the goverment. they need to be IN the parliament, to voice out our unhappiness for us. i know many youngsters have been talking about voting for opposition and kicking PAP out in this coming GE. but really, angry is one thing. thinking logically is another. do you really think that just by voting for the opposition would solve all our problems for us? yes, they talked a lot about helping citizens and changing policies to make our lives better and such. but where are the solutions to the problems? all talk, no actions? how to trust them? secondly, money is another issue. do they have enough funds to run the GRC/SMC for 5 years and promise to make the GRC/SMC even better? no, they cant. even if they have enough funds, do they have as much as what the government has? if not, who's gonna suffer? ultimately, its still us.

i do agree that certain opposition candidates seem really capable like nicole seah. just like the many youngsters out there, i find her really calm, composed and matured enough to be a good MP even thou she's only like 24? yes, singapore needs someone like her. she needs to be IN the parliament. so, for her area, voters should vote her in, let her have a chance to sit in the parliament to prove herself as compared to PAP's tin pei ling. but how about the rest of the opposition candidates? i really doubt some of their capabilities. do i really wanna risk my 5 years down the road in their hands? after reading up on my area's opposition candidates, it really sets me thinking... how much more can they do for us? our area is basically safe and stable. the residents here are happy and contented with what we have. so its not gonna be easy for the opposition to come in, honestly.

ultimately, i guess voting all depends on the candidates in your GRC/SMC. if PAP's team is strong and stable, why not? if the opposition team seems to be better, then well, by all means let them have a chance to become your MP.

many youngsters out there are thinking recklessly, saying that they should vote PAP out regardless of whichever opposition party who's gonna contest in this coming election. but really, we should sit down, analyse and think logically before deciding.
